Frequently Asked Questions

We accept most insurances. Most insurances require a prescription from your doctor to pay for physical therapy services. Some insurances and self-payment do not require a prescription from a doctor. Please call us with your insurance for specific guidelines. We do our best to provide you with your up to date insurance benefits for physical therapy, but please call or check your own insurance so you know what your limitations are.

Do I need a prescription for physical therapy?2017-10-26T21:22:16+00:00

The state of Connecticut has “Direct Access” for physical therapy. What does that mean? It means that you can see a physical therapist without seeing the doctor first. This may not apply to all insurances, so it is best to check your benefits.

What insurances do you accept?2017-10-26T21:21:50+00:00

We participate with all the major insurances companies including Medicare and most commercial, managed care insurance plans (HMO, PPO and POS plans) along with worker’s compensation plans. To be sure, give us a call and our friendly staff will help explain your coverage. If you do not have health insurance or other coverage or have exhausted your insurance benefits, we do offer affordable payment plans. Please call for more specific details.

If my doctor referred me to a different facility, do I have to go there?2017-10-26T21:21:24+00:00

Physicians or other health care profession may suggest a certain facility but know that it is your right as a patient to choose the best fit for your healthcare needs. Our facilities provide one on one individual treatment with a licensed physical therapist for the entire time you are with us. Recovery is individual, and your physical therapist is trained to help you meet your goals.

Will I always see the same physical therapist?2017-10-26T21:20:46+00:00

Our therapists strive to promote a strong patient-therapist relationship. In order that care, be consistent and at the highest quality, we schedule with the same therapist throughout treatment.

What should I bring to my first office visit?2017-10-26T21:20:21+00:00

You will need your insurance card, a photo ID, the physician’s referral if required by your insurance carrier and your co-pay for the visit. If you have imaging studies such as X-rays, MRI or CT scans taken by your doctor, you can bring these in for review by your physical therapist. We would also need a list of medications for our records.
You will find all the relevant patient forms on our website at curacenters.com
